This past semester, students from across Western and Ivey had the privilege
of visiting EQ Bank and the Scotiabank Digital Factory in Toronto
to explore innovative new approaches to tackling banking in Canada.
From witnessing EQ Bank’s innovative banking solutions to touring
the Digital Factory, every moment was filled with learning and new
insights. We also had the chance to meet with industry leaders who
shared their perspectives on the industry and offered valuable career
advice. Thank you to EQ Bank and the Scotiabank Digital Factory for
their warm hospitality and enriching experience as well as our
wonderful panelists for igniting engaging discussions.

Last year, 30 students were involved in Ivey Fintech’s Stock Simulation
Competition: an event that offered students the chance to sharpen their trading skills
using MarketWatch's stock simulator. Students were given a $100,000
simulated portfolio and four weeks to trade with only a single requirement:
at least 50% of the portfolio needed to be invested in Fintech stocks. The
teams with the top 3 highest returns will receive Amazon gift cards and
mentorship opportunities. The Stock Simulation also featured a presentation
by Aaru Chandra, incoming Investment Banking Summer Analyst at Evercore.
Aaru walked students through the basics of investing, how to find ideal
fintech investments, and shared an overview of his award-winning fintech
stock pitch. We are looking forward to seeing who wins the
coming stock-simulation competition and what fintech stocks shine throughout
this period.
